New Immersive Paths
- Laurent Estoppey's free improvisation class

MIAM is pleased to welcome the students from Laurent Estoppey’s free improvisation class, who will present their sound explorations during this evening, in collaboration with HEMU - Haute École de Musique.

Saxophonist, composer, and educator, Laurent Estoppey has been dividing his activities between Switzerland and the United States for around fifteen years. Active in both written and improvised music, he has collaborated with numerous composers, contributing to the creation of several hundred works, and performs on many international stages. He regularly collaborates with orchestras such as the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the OCL, has founded several chamber music ensembles, and is currently the artistic director of ensemBle baBel in Lausanne. His interest in contemporary arts leads him to work in diverse contexts, from concerts to sound installations. Teaching for over twenty years in various music schools and conservatories in French-speaking Switzerland, he regularly gives masterclasses and workshops, has taught free improvisation at HEMU since 2022, and is currently pursuing a PhD in practice-based research between Paris (ENS-PSL) and HES-SO.

HEMU - Haute École de Musique is a leading institution, recognized for the rigor and quality of its training, its close ties with professional networks, and its active engagement in musical life. Multidisciplinary and multi-style, it covers all areas of training in classical music, jazz, and contemporary music.
